I am envious! I have been detecting for about 40 years and have never found a confederate button and you find three in one day! The Bullet with the metal band goes with the long cartridge above and to the left of it. It's a Burnside in case you didn't know.
That's a heck of a good day there! I have only one "I" button that I dug here in SW Georgia. I found it at an old home site. I guess someone wore it home after the war.
Killer assortment Davers. I couldnt imagine digging one Block I, and you dug 3. WTG!!
Not to mention the burnside and nice J hook.
Were those 3 block I's found close to each other.? If so, i cant help to think that maybe there are 2 or 3 more nearby. Maybe someone discarded or lost their coat.
I keep imagining a shell jacket lying in the mud.
It only took me almost a week to get back to this post.
It can be hard these day's finding CW relics in my area, Esp, Brass.
But I consider any CW relic Dug these Day's "Quality".
The Reins Guide & The Suspender Clip ; I have pictured Before , I think the clip is Post War , the reins guide could be also, but a few CW Items were dug by others on the same property.
The Burnside Case / Bullet ,pistol bullet , Cap, Camp Lead , & Jewelry pieces came from a diff site (but I now think the Jewelry) is from a later period. oh 'J' hook from this site also.
Now..The 3 buttons Were found within feet of each other (WOW ..Thinking Back) & The dropped Minnie , Brass piece & Pewter Spoon piece came from that same site. & The fired Minnie came from a site a mile or 2 from the Buttons ..Same Battle Tho.
I also thought Uniform , A guy told me "I was missing one" Saying They or some Coats had 4 buttons.
One would have to seen where I found these but I was SUPER lucky to get them at all , a place with almost 100 years of development since the War.
It's been a Hot Summer & I hope everyone can get out when it's cooler & find what they Desire.
