Yepper. Historical maps or boots on ground talking to old timers. While looking at Aerials, it is a bit hard to Measure Distances .
plus There are areas that became Landfill & Junkyard & Military Surplus . Possibly less then a mile from Rife, But as I said Guessing distance is Tuff. Best option would be to ask someone elderly in Rife area, or ride he road see how long it is to the first turn

Got his name. Daniel Reigle. So should be a good start in records.I dropped the ball on an old picnic ground .
It has been hit by a detector I believe....
Old maps showed a lumber company (?) owning it in the era it was used, and surrounding parcels being owned by private individuals.
It's location on the river , I somehow failed to record. So it would be a start over chasing old maps.....
Sadly the same area in 1938 Is Bare. No woods
And the Township area Looks like maybe a farm

Sorry about your health, my friend, and thanks a always for interesting posts. And I hate unsolved mysteries. Would be good to pinpoint this even though I will not be going there. I do not have a visa to enter Pennsylvania.if I were to ask anyone it would be during a driveby & seeing an elderly person outside or at the Church. Or ask at Colman's
if anyone ever heard about it.
Since I Don't have the legs / Knees / Lungs / Back / health
to Detect for more then 3 digs tops anymore . It would be Purely for sharing on here if I Ever get down that way
Now I know who you are talking about. They were related to the DeVito's.the ones I knew were tiny in height, but very heavy.
I can only guess it is probably a family trait
