Red glass piece

Hi all, Dug this in a little nearby dump and can only guess what it once was. Possibly part of a control panel and housed a light inside? Just a guess!

What looks like glue in the photo is the light through the edge of the red glass. No glue there. But sounds like you guys agree with my original idea.

I have a train set controller (older than the pictured one) that took light covers just like that.
