Thank you Dave! Yeah the Seated Dime was an interesting find and definitely an earlier one too! Pre dates any structures built at the location it was found by almost half a decade. Cheers!:icon_thumright:
I lived and worked in BC in the early-1980s, biggest mistake I made was leaving a girl I was dating in Burnaby to come back to Ontario. Sure wish I was detecting back then, but I have some great memories of camping on the beach at Pacific Rim. - Dave

The coast is on my list of places to detect this season! Have been limited to the central interior region last several years but do have some family on the island i have been meaning to visit for the last couple. Lol, great meme! and best of luck out there!

NICE find on the Ring and your Oldest coin !! Thanks for sharing !! Welcome to a fine site

Pity about the hole. 1864 is a very rare date Seated dime, although it could be an 1864-S.

Yeah was surprised how low the mintage was when i looked it up after finding! never know if it had a mint mark or not though.. does not bother me to much that it was holed or drilled considering where it was found. Have been detecting general area on and off for several years, was first time at particular location, and have only ever found a few other coins predating the 20th century, one Canadian 5 cent piece 1892, a Belgian 1899 two Heller and one 1897 IHC. Area is well know to most local Detectorists and has alot of Gold Rush era history being the first place in province where it was discovered and mined. Have been diving into the history of early settlers backgrounds in area just in case one of them may have worn it as a keepsake but, no luck yet at having a story to tell about it.
