Rechargeables in an Ace 250

I can't answer your question but i will give you my .02 cents worth since no one else responded. I was going to buy some rechargeables this week but happened to go in the Dollar General store. I bought 8 store brand alkalines for $2.50 and think they are lasting longer than Duracell or Eveready. I'm sold and don't think I want the hassle of recharging for this price. You might give them a try. Happy hunting!

sorry drver, im not ignoring you, i just have never used rechargables in my ace. maybe garrett can help you out?

Thanks for the replies, I was beginning to wonder if I just wasn’t cool enough for a response.

I’ve also tried a few different brands in mine and believe it or not it seems the longest lasting ones seem to be the Radio Shack ones. I bought one of those big 50 packs when they were on sale for twenty bucks.

I guess I’ll stick with the alkaline, I’ve seen too many bad things about using the wrong rechargeables.

exanimo redux if you ever get back to this area give me a shout. Camp Lejeune is about an hour and a half north.
As for the CW sites around here... don’t get into them with a metal detector in you car, even if it doesn’t work.
Yea I always carry a spare set of batteries and change them out when they drop to half charge. The half batteries go into clocks, the remote, toys or whatever. Just I’m starting to collect allot of half charged batteries.

I've had my Ace 250 for about 2 weeks now. I've been using the Energizer Rechargable batteries in it and am extremely pleased with the performance. I have used the machine ALOT in that 2 week period and my batteries are still at 3/4 charge. I can't speak for everyone, but they're working great for me and only cost $10 at Wal-Mart.

The only draw back on rechargeable batteries is that when they get low, they will drain very quick!

Voltage is lower that Alkaline(1.5 volts for each batteries vers. 1.2 volts for Rechargeable batteries.

I will tell you this about the ACE 250. When your batteries get below 3 bars, you lose depth and the ability to pinpoint accurately.

I find that rechargables are good, but make sure you only use 2500 or better capacity. The 900's wont last long at all.

I've been useing the Raovac cheapies. Real junk but then Walmart sells them for .99
a pack of four. I get more time out of them by turning the power off my Ace when I put it down to dig a target. By turning off the power when I get down to digging, I extend the life of the batteries considerably or so it sems to me.

We use rechargeables in the Ace 150 and Ace 250 as well as the Minelab Exp II....I love my rechargeables. We purchased enough for each of us to place in our detectors and carry a spare with us....when done for the day...they go back on the charger :)

Also bought those real cheapie ones from Dollar General while we were in Arkansas....there were about 6 in there that were NO GOOD!!! I'm sticking to my rechargeables!

Those RayOVac hybrid batteries have a higher voltage and a longer shelf life than other rechargeables that I've tried. In my Tejon, the energizer rechargeables only give two beeps on initial power-up, indicating lower than optimum voltage. The hybrids give 6 beeps just like new alkalines.

All I know is all I use in my 250 -- 2500 maH rechargables. I have not had any problems and I've been using the same set for 1.5 years.

My advice is , Watch your sales! I just picked up Rayovac AA Alkaline 12 packs for 99cents! I grabbed the max amount allowed, so I have 48 batteries for $4!!!
