Recent Finds: Horstmann and Allien Virginia Cuff, blow hole button & more

Hey Guys, I finally got a minute to post my finds from the past couple times out. I dug the Virginia button at the end of last week at a new site, not in the best of shape but it is what it

is; a Confederate-worn button.. The normal flat buttons and flower buttons were popping up as well. The blow hole button came from the late 1600's site that we were digging and is in perfect

shape. I love how big and sturdy the shanks were made on these buttons. Also had the odd Walker Half pop up......hey.....a big piece of silver.....ill keep it

Great buttons!

Horstmann and Allien were in NY and Phil. That makes your Virginia button a "pre-war build up" item. Love it!

I look forward to it Joe. This is going to be a STELLAR piece of VIRGIN property. The last time we dug a virgin site at DIV there were more than a couple hundred plates found...and that site was right on the other side of the hill from the fields we will be hunting next week....right on the other side of the hill from the Farley House where the main part of the Battle of Brandy Station was fought.....we ALL are going to have a good time for sure!

I do to Jeff....this is going to be one of the Best DIV's in a LONG time. But there's always the fall too. Hopefully you'll come out and do some diggin' with us.

Wow, you have done some digging...... great buttons, like that artillery button and the Indian Heads, and it all needs saving....

Mikusek, that is my feeling as well, it all needs saving from colonial to civil war...I love the colonial stuff just as much as the Civil War stuff as do I Native American artifacts, especially when I am visiting my family down in Georgia...I've found a lot of points down there over the years

That's a lot of nice stuff there Josh. Looks like you got yourself a nice IH collection just from those spots. Love that VA button too. And that blowhole button is a great find. With all the early colonial sites I've been hunting over the years I've never dug one of those that I can remember.

Thanks Bill, yes there was a WHOLE tribe on Indians on that field Thanks, as you know the State Seal Cuff buttons are harder to find so I was quite happy with the Virginia. Hmm, that's surprising you've not ever dug a blow hole button but sometimes those weird circumstances arise in this hobby you know. I know you've been on many fields that could've had one....just one of those things, thanks again my friend.

Some nice finds! What is the item in the 5th pic down, upper center, that looks like it has a Georgia state seal on it, a watch fob? HH

Nice recoveries Josh. Good variety of quality finds represented. I have always liked the dated suspender buckles. Hopefully this DIV will be one for the books, maybe we can do some hunting. Supposed to be corps camps in there and some nice glass ought to surface.
