Recent Finds: Horstmann and Allien Virginia Cuff, blow hole button & more

Hey Guys, I finally got a minute to post my finds from the past couple times out. I dug the Virginia button at the end of last week at a new site, not in the best of shape but it is what it

is; a Confederate-worn button.. The normal flat buttons and flower buttons were popping up as well. The blow hole button came from the late 1600's site that we were digging and is in perfect

shape. I love how big and sturdy the shanks were made on these buttons. Also had the odd Walker Half pop up......hey.....a big piece of silver.....ill keep it

Thats a lot of targets Josh. I wish your Virginia and artillery buttons were in a little better shape, but we have to take 'em any way we can. Those brass blowhole buttons really were a sturdy well made button in most cases, although I have found some that were of different material and constuction that were not so solid.

Thats a lot of targets Josh. I wish your Virginia and artillery buttons were in a little better shape, but we have to take 'em any way we can. Those brass blowhole buttons really were a sturdy well made button in most cases, although I have found some that were of different material and constuction that were not so solid.

I've found some of the blow hole buttons that were of thin tin construction as well that were dented in however they're usually the smaller ones... these variety seem to hold up better; nice

and big. Yeah, that is true, you take them as they come. I've got several of those War of 1812/Crumpton Artillery Corps buttons and most are in good to great condition; but as you

know, you have to take them as they come. Thanks my friend and good luck next week at DIV, I'll see you there.

Nice digs as usual Josh, congrats! I agree with Steve in the earlier buttons being well made and stout. The few blow hole buttons that I had found in the past were like the one you found, good job!! Keep up the great finds and showing us some more of that eye candy you have a knack of finding!!!

Thanks Ironman good to hear from you buddy. Yes most every blow hole button I found like this type were made like brick houses. There are smaller varieties that I've found that were dented but most of these big guys are stout and proud each time I dig them. Thanks my friend and I look forward to seeing some of those nice Western goodies from you too

That's a lot of nice stuff there Josh. Looks like you got yourself a nice IH collection just from those spots. Love that VA button too. And that blowhole button is a great find. With all the early colonial sites I've been hunting over the years I've never dug one of those that I can remember.
