My son got a really nice collection of flint points for Christmas from his grandfather. Among them was this iron point. It has a capital letter 'U' embossed on one side. I asked my dad where he found it and he said a neighbor in Western Colorado found it and gave it to him 70+ years ago. Has anyone seen one like this?

Looks like a trade point, but I can't remember what book I saw the picture of one in.

maybe a spike from an iron fence

That's what it appears to be to me as well is a fence piece or a.number of things they were made for. All spear points I've seen have markings and such at the bottoms where the point can be attached to the wood or arrow depending on size I did not see that here it appears to have broken off.

That small? Need more pictures to see the edges, but they even look tapered to me, and of course we don't know how thick it is, but it looks mighty small for a fence.

Since is small and is embossed with the letter "U", my first thoughts was the tip of an iron antique weather vane. The "U" being the makers mark/logo of the manufacturing company. :) Breezie

Yeap, anything but an arrowhead or spear.

Agreed. Its most def ornamental either an old fence piece or weather vane I've also seen it used in window bars this size
