Really old anchor?

hello. I found this anchor on George’s Banks about 40 years ago. It is 93 inches long and 49 inches wide. I believe it weighs around 350 - 450 pounds. I believe it is quite old. Can anyone help me date the anchor and if possible what it could be worth. Thanks in advance!! Steve

It is definitely old of an antique design. Other than that, I don't have the knowledge to help you. Cool find!

I was a Shipwreck diver for over 25 years - I brought up a few Anchors that looked similar to yours.
Yes, it's old - I'd guess 1800's or possibly even 1700's.
You could send a few photo's to a Maritime Museum for age verification.

We soaked salt water - rusted Iron objects in a Lye Bath for six months to a year and then painted them with a brush.
This process stops or at least slows down any future deterioration of the piece.
