Really cool laurel buckle(?) found at early 1900's house

Found this in the backyard of an early 1900's house. Property might be older. I'm guessing it's a buckle, but it's broken off at the bottom like there was more metal to it down there.

Fun design though. Looks like laurel leaves.

Anyone seen this before?
 

Nice find. It may something military related, since they used the Laurel Leaf design on certain items.

Possibly half of a tongue and wreath buckle. But not military. More like a patriotic fashion buckle.

Can we see the 'break' and the back?
