Hey gang,

The weather here was yucky today, so I decided to do another clad cleaning session. They're usually not alot of fun, so I try to put it off for awhile. I don't want to let it pile up too much though, so it didn't take me too long today.

I love the way they clean up!! Money in the bank baby!! ;D

On a sad note.......let us take a moment and have some silence for my poor old lawnmower victims. WARNING!!!!! THESE PICTURES ARE VERY GRAPHIC AND MIGHT BE DISTURBING TO SOME VIEWERS!!! :o

Yes............I was bored and this is my 1001st Post. Yay me!! ;D

It's sleeting here in Southcacalacky........brrrrrrrrrrr!!

Happy Hunting everyone!

Those are pretty bad too Ridley.....looks like Jack the Ripper got a hold of the first one!

Thanks for your replies!

Good luck everyone!

Nice clean up job! I will also have nightmares tonight, sent a few prayers for those poor neglected coins, LOL! HH, Mike

I feel you, the North GA weather is the same. Can't wait to get back out. Nice cleaning.

It was a quiet day in the field...coins were just lying there..minding their own business, until...HE came...LAWN MOWER MAN! :o :o :o

Starts Friday at theaters everywhere! (Due to graphic nature of this film, Treasure Hunters not admitted unless they show proof of TNet membership) ;D

Different note, c..... i was not aware tellers could not accept any US currancy as long as it was able to be identified as real currancy, and as long as 75-90% of it was still intact?

Care to enlighten me.

:'( :'( Sad to see coins get bent. I wrap the bent coins in a cloth and put in a vise. It does the trick without making the coin look worse.I have used the same cleaning method. It works good. H.H.

nice haul!

Banks have been known to accept even bills that have been in a fire or buried, even though they're mutilated. I thought it would be the same for coins.

You can always pound them flat and mix them with normal rolled change, or spend them a little at a time at the store..they're still legal to spend that way I would think.

Just when I thought I was through with my shrink sessions, I go and read something like this. Have you no decency man?

(That's funny stuff there, or am I just CRAZY?)

The major banks I worked at had coin sorters. We take customer coin (rolled and loose) and put them in it to count and re wrap. If the coin is bent or cut, it gets rejected and the customer does not get it back. If they got full credit for a roll, their account was debited for the amount that was mutilated. People do slip alot of "bad" or foreign coins into rolls and receive full credit.............that's really a no-no.

On the other hand......we did accept mutilated bills. If they were really bad...we couldn't exchange them, but sent them off to the Federal Reserve. In about a month or so, the customer would receive a check from the Government. Voila!

I had one customer that had hidden 3,000.00 from his wife. He put the money in the furnace. Well....it got cold (in Fl.?) and yes........she cranked up the heat. He comes home and has a hissy fit and she thought it was because she had turned heat on! Well, that wasn't the only reason. Anyway, he brought the burnt to a crisp bills to us in a plastic bag. The were literally ashes! My boss processed the paper work and in six weeks the man got his money back.

And just some useful info.......If you ever inherit your Old Uncle's possessions, such as his garage and it's contents......always check the power tool box inserts! I had a good customer find 35,000.00 in cash!

Happy Hunting!
