Ready to buy V3I but where????

First off I did not mean to sound like I was bashing the V3i. If that is what you thought I apologize. I have been detecting for over 40 years and have also used a lot of different machines. Like I said I do not have any first hand knowledge of the V3i, only what my friend told me. We started detecting at the same time while in college. I asked why you chose that particular model. You answered one of my questions when you said your wife has the CTX 3030. I would agree that it is a top detector and a direct competitor of the V3i. The V3i is also the next generation up from the Whites XLT that I have. I find the XLT easy to use but it can be a bit overly sensitive on pull tabs. I have also heard this from other users. One tip if the icons have the pull tab to the left of a nickel it will almost always be a pull tab, if the nickel shows up first you have a 50/50 chance or more of it still being a pull tab. I also am friends with Bill of Golden Detectors in Golden, a Co and he favors Whites detectors above all others. Of course he does not carry Minelab in his store so doesn't like to talk about them. He favors the MXT above the V3i because of the simple operation. Again, understand this is his opinion not mine.

I would really like to hear your opinion of the V3i once you have had a chance to run it for a while. Especially how you feel it stacks up against the CTX 3030. I too am looking for another detector to put into my stable of detectors and gave been considering a Multi frequency machine or a PI detector. I agree the GTI is older tech and why I have held off on it. Although I like the idea of being able to use the deep seeking box array. Best of luck with the new detector and again please let me know how you do. The information will help in making my next purchase.

Grey bear u apologize if my words may have been taken as I thought you might be bashing the v3i I didn't mean anything of it & didn't think you were bashing it honestly, opinions from users are what makes new & improved detectors good luck all & hh

Ya I do I like my sef's lol

I found a play money 'one thin dime' at nearly 11 inches with coin and jewelry with just the RX gain turned up.

As far as the original question, I paid $1250 + tax from the East coast service center for a new V3i last year which included $200 in bonus bucks. In the end I got the earphones to go along with it.

The v3i is only $1200 at KellyCo right now

The v3i resolved any pull tab issues the older machine had with the spectrograph and polar plot.

I can pretty much tell pull tabs before I dig.

For the best deal on that V3i is at Bart's Big Boys Hobbies. http://www.bigboyshobbies.net/

As for the V3 missing items at depth is mainly because the coil wasn't directly centered over the item when you sweep because of the detection field with a concentric coil the field is deepest in the center. So if you don't over lap a lot you are going to miss some targets.

+1 if Bart carries anything you need it will be the best deal and customer service you've ever seen.

Bart may have good deals we all know that but he isn't a whites vendor. Ed is from treasure mountain detectors & like I said if customers wearnt happy with his services I dought whites would have given him the awards. Bottom line is everyone of the vendors in the market place are the best out there no need to go anywhere else they have everything that's needed

The v3i is only $1200 at KellyCo right now

Is that 1200.00 out the door? no tax or ?
So you get the V3I a case and two pairs of headphones....I don't see it...so show me please.

White's Spectra V3i w/ Wireless Headphones For Sale - Kellyco Metal Detectors

Please share with me a link or the agent you spoke to....can get it for 1125.00 otd with NO extra you listed, the extras are worth 75.00....actually I would rather have a free pointer than two sets of phones.....just me....I just pop over there in person cash and carry.

Greybear I sure hope you didn't get the impression I thought you were trashing the machine,

What my big issue is and will always be is that I firmly believe that 98% of users of the more complex high end machines do not know how to or do not take the time to learn to adjust them correctly, or they "heard" this or "heard" that and repeat it as fact.

Next...people will always perfer one thing to another some folks like chevy some ford but make good cars.

When I get my v3I and the wife and I are out with both units I will be happy to report results but what is that worth? we will both be new and novice to our machnes...lol, we have a fun hunt planned for sunday special permission to a large unsearched lot, likey lots of shallow clad and jewerly....I will report on that hunt.

But now you got me all nerved up over the 1250 kellyco price....

Get the wireless headphones for sure! They are worth their weight in gold!

Another I agree on, I ended up gettin 2 pairs of them when I had my v I found it easier to teach the wife settings,& even what to listen for on the 1 machine verse 2 machines & goin & hopefully ur hearing everything the other person is at Same time

You can't go wrong with Treasure Mountain Detectors. I have purchased two machines from Ed and got excellent service and a great deal. I have no reason to shop anywhere else - forget Kellyco.

I agree with Sandman. I am pretty darn good with my ATP and just bought a V3i and only used it three times so far but an ATP can't beat my V3i and I am just learning it. I been hunting with the standard programs and it beast the heck out of my ATP. On an average with my ATP found $5.50 per hunt. After one failed hunt with my V3i cuz i didn;t know what i was doing at 1st I have netted $7.13 and $4.95 in two hunts covering old ground that has been hunted

No problem! Like I said I was just relaying what my friend had told me. We have both been detecting for about 40 years now and have used a lot of different detectors. I was surprised at his comments on the V3i to be honest but I have not used one so don't have first hand knowledge. I did have an XLT ( Whites ) and just never felt comfortable with it. It is a personal thing I''m sure ..it sure did like flip tabs though. The old machine you referred to, was the the CTX 3030? I have been reading up on that and watching some videos. Looks like a pretty impressive detector!

Martin...................when you get the new coil, and still can't hit a 10" target let me know. I have a program I've been using in NC that works very well. You'll have to tweak it a little for your own soil, but I would pretty much guarantee you'll hit 10" targets using it.
