The FCC has changed the rules in the last six months and before that about 2005 /2006 years on the output power .
This is because of the networking of computers in the home and due to the airwaves bandwidth usage being changed.
We came up to this issue while working on a engineering issue for some firmware that I was in on the design of.
I do not know where to look now on this matter but I am sure it could be found without much trouble.
Wile working on this issue the FCC engineer who was working with the company on finding out what the limit was had stated that now that this had been opened up there would be a change in quite a bit of equipment .
How it was told and shown to us was it was gauged by the distant of the transmit field and not just the output power of a said unit.
I can not give out any details even though they may or may not have anything to do with what the type of machine is being talked about here due to a N.D.A that I can not break for 3 more years. But the data is out in the wild so you should be able to find it easily .
