Looking at theDraped Bust Dime and the amount of wear it makes one wonder how many years it actually was exchanged before being lost.
From digging silvers that predate other coinage, and the wear that they had on them this dime must of been handled for 50 yrs or more before it was dropped.

Good point, for I have personally seen archeologists use one worn out early half cent to establish and support the occupation of a site without accounting for the wear on that coin, which was probably lost some 40 years after minting. There is a term that is used in this type of analysis, called coin ATTRITION and is good info for those who find coins and use them in determining site age use....too bad that archeologist was so close minded.
