2nd pic. looks like part of a cicle mower. The long, thin curved pieces in first pic look like broken horse shoes.

Hmmm okay that's cool I have so many things that need to be looked at I have crates and crates of this stuff I've dug over the past year had no way to identify whats worth keeping and not barly discovered this awesome site which I love

The half "horseshoes" might be ox shoes.
You should do some research on the grounds of that orchard. See what might've been there before.

Nice saves!

I've researched the area a bit not much on it comes up I know there where dairies all over the area a house burnt down by what I heard long ago on the property but I've found old wagon parts and things dating to the early 1800s all over the property but no idea why can't find any history on the area plus I'm in central California we don't have all the exciting history like the southern states no war time stuff always jealous of the finds up that way lol

Oxen shoes look like half horse shoes because oxen have split hoofs. Oxen were commonly used for working fields and pulling trees like a skidded or tractor. It's a good sign that there was fairly old activity. Keep on hunting. There's something good waiting for you

Okay thanks everyone for the commits very much appreciated as always:)

No, all you find in California is 10 million dollars in gold coins. LOL

Lol I had just read about that gold coin find well all I find in California is junk I don't have the luck to so much as find a coin lol

Best I found was a star wars coin in my lawn lol and I let one of my friends have it

You stay at it! Sometimes it takes a while - but if you search for it, it will come!

And that my friend is a guarantee!

It just takes a bit of time and a bit of smarts. Ya just gotta think about what used to be in an area. Research things on old aerial maps to see what a field might've looked like thru the years. Then, learn that machine and pay attention!

From what I've seen already, you are WELL on your way to some GREAT finds! Stay at it.

Lol I know my family makes fun of me because I'll metal detect all day non stop I just need to post a bunch of the stuff I've found over time on the property my grandparents own many iron items I think a lot go to old wagons farm equipment some I have no clue

Plus I'm limited to my search area because this lame 22 years old doesn't drive or anything yet lol sigh I have no life lol. Just lucky to have grandparents that own 20ares of land that seems to have many relics from the 1800s for some reason

Every now and then, if you have a machine that allows it, try just hunting for an hour or so for ANYTHING that is NOT iron. Higher VDI numbers. Then go back to your normal hunt. The break may help.

I'm learning what is garbage and what is not now that's what I do every once and awhile discriminate the iron and go look for high tones or weak high tons which seem to be the higher quality stuff

Only coin I've found is a 1944 mercury dime found it in an area where some rocks had been brought over only reason I searched there is because my dad found a 1800s five dollar gold coin there on the surface so I figure it came in with the rocks they dumped there

Hi JVA :)

That thing with the hook looks like it might be a part of an oxen Yoke..i have one hangong on my wall and it appears to be the same thing..no guarantee to that though LOL
