Ready to strike.

This spooked me a little at first. Could not see his head well and his tail not at all. Pattern was what I reacted to. Turns out it's a Florida watersnake and harmless, to me at least.

Would have spooked me too.

Growing up years we lived near a river. I can remember spooking water snakes looked like that (they would swim out far enough on the water to return at a safer spot).
