Mt. Ranier on a clear day...

Years ago working for a previous employer myself and a coworker had to travel to Yakima, Wa for a few days. While there, we had a free Sunday so we headed up to Mt. Ranier Park. The trip was during September, and as you can see, we caught the weather just perfect. This is my alltime fave pic that I've ever taken, it was looking across Reflection Lake.

Took these next two pic's while "working" the following day. We were doing PM on some rail measurement equipment our company built that was installed on high-rail trucks. These two lakes are somewhere along a CP railroad track between Yakima and Seattle. We were testing rail and I asked them to stop so I could get out and take some pic's. Pretty spectacular scenery, I didn't care much for the travel, but I actually enjoyed that trip because of the weather and scenery.

Col. William Farr Memorial Bridge

Revolutionary War site, with memorial....

Col William Farr monument.jpg

The bridge was replaced about 20 years ago, and that's when the new memorial was put in place. Here's a picture of new bridge under construction, with the "old" one still in service. The old bridge has since been demolished.

Hermann Goerring

This is a picture of a picture of Hermann Goerring. This picture was taken by a deceased uncle who was a bombardier in WWII. He happened to be at the air base shortly after the war ended, when Hermann Goerring was brought there. My mom got the original picture when her brother passed away and she still has this picture, I suppose that me or my brother will inherit it one day.

The back of it:

Don't know how or why the "90%" in red is there, I think maybe someone was writing on a sheet of paper that was above it and maybe they went off the edge and wrote onto the pic. Otherwise, I got no better explanation lol.

Believe it or not, the land on both sides of the river there is privately owned. From what I have been able to gather, the actual Battle of Fishdam took place across the river. There is a high bluff there that was used to defend the position, when the British advanced on it.

Sounds like a little "door knockin" is in order...
Strike a "deal" with the owner and gain permission...
Hunt like no tomorrow.

Three corners of the highway/river are owned by timber company and/or timber investment firms. All of that land is leased to hunt clubs, I just need to get an invite to join one of those hunt clubs!!! The other corner is owned by a textile company that my parents used to work at.

Tell em ... Yeah I wanna "hunt".... and show up with a detector. :)

SC Militia Ammo pouch

This was handed down to me by my father, who got it from his father. Not sure where in the lineage it was used at, but apparently we had an ancestor who served in the SC Militia. I don't think this was civil war era, but rather came into being in the late 1800's. The bullets are the 45-70 cal. variety, which was developed in 1873. The latch is missing from it.

This is a Budweiser print that I found many years ago.
