found this yesterday while digging in a trash pit they had a skinny foot P1090951.JPGP1090952.JPG
 

This used to be a milkhouse. The farmer would fill milk cans and place them in the running water to keep them cool until they were picked up.
Today this water wheel is attached to a generator that powers up the farmhouse and outer buildings.

I know of a couple of old farm houses in my area that had spring houses built of Missouri limestone. They are built over the stream just coming out of the spring and had concrete floors which the cold spring water would run across a couple inches deep year round. Entering and exiting through grates in the wall.

The farmer or wife would place jars of fresh milk, cream, or home made butter or whatever needed to stay cool in these springhouses. They stayed pleasingly cool inside even on hot summer days.
 

heh... so the word ***** is scrubbed... SO how about wiener... wee wee... um.... hrrmmm
 

Sheesh... P- nis is like ?... um a medical word... not a "bad word". :/
