These photos are of one of my fav ships... VASA...
This ship is the only complete intact ship of its kind that has bee raised "whole" so to speak...
This raising of this ship has given a window / true glimpse into an era of ships that has interested me since my earliest memories...
She sank within sight of the dock where she was birthed due to being too top heavy.
Brand new ship with less than a nautical mile under her sails.
These pics have always "sucked me in" heh...

"Vasa set sail on her maiden voyage on August 10, 1628. At the time, she was the most powerfully armed warship in the world, with 64 bronze cannons. Twenty minutes into her journey, the ship was hit by two strong winds. It heeled to port, water gushed in, and the ship sank less than a mile into the journey."
There are many "theories" on the true cause of its quick demise.
