Oh my ill bet that was pretty loud and scary to be around. The plate looks similar to the ones that cover the gun ports at fort jefferson.

Nice specimen

I believe it's a recent find and was posted by a person with Klondex mining on LinkedIn. There was no story behind it, other then I've read the Klondex - Fire Creek mine, Nevada has been hitting some of the best valued gold per ton deposits recorded in in recent times. I guess the picture says it all.
