I came upon an old homested like that with an old modle T Ford also, out in the middle of South Park Colorado. My buddy took his new 79' F250 in a sink that I told him not to go in. Sure enough the front sunk to the axle and I said back this ***** up now, but it was to late and then the rear axle sunk in the mud heading back out. We were very stuck at that point and the more we tried to get it out the deeper it sank. We walked for miles and came up on that old homested. Finally the next day we found an exploration drill rig out there and the fellas drilling gave us a ride after their day was over. We spent the night out there and it was a good thing I smoked back in those days as that BIC lighter came in real handy for a chilly night out there. I'm still in contact with that buddy of mine. He lives in Montana now and has ended marriage number 4 a year or so ago now. I guess being thick headed does have it's issues. The following pictures are taken just west of South Pass, WY. I think it's Pacific Springs, but I don't remember that for sure. The actual pass is the horizon in the behind the buildings. The Oregon Trail crosses to the right side, out of the picture.
