Well that’s the highlight of my day. We went to a funeral of a school friend of mr WD and mr BuckIdgr ‘s. BuckIdgr and I married into the circle of friends. And the lady who died was also very close to my sons fiancée. The friend was the Chief of the local life squad. It was hard enough but when the dispatcher called in to give Chief her last call, that was heart wrenching! Then we come home and tried to work our way through it. The fiancé sends me a text and in it says, “I love you!” That’s the first time she has said that to me. Then I decided to get my stuff together and hunt in the big creek. I was looking for a place to climb down and there was the dog dead in the creek. We just got done helping the owners retrieve him . I’m emotionally spent!

Sorry to hear about your day. Friends passing has a tendency to make us do a reality check. Also sad that you had to be the one to discover the dead dog. Many years ago I was at work and a beautiful German Shepherd was running in and out of traffic barking at cars, ( maybe looking for his owner ). I grabbed some treats and water and tried to get across the busy 4 lane road and see if I could catch him. I could see he had a collar and tags. While I was trying to get across the street, a bus slowed down for him, but the car next to the bus did not and hit the poor dog. He spun around several times in the air and then took off. I found him in the ditch and he had died. I could not eat for a week because the image of him getting hit and I couldn't help him in time. I hope you don't have to go through anymore of this for awhile.
