I think they renamed it due to political correctness, but allow me to relate a story that my pops once told me about while trot line fishing for channel catfish on the Black Warrior river.

As the story goes, my dad at the time was 10 years old. Him and his Father went and set their lines one night. My pops told me that he didn't drive the anchor lines deep enough and the next morning the line was gone.
Strong fish.
My dad got his @$$ beat.

He didn't want it to happen again, so the bext night he tied the line up to a gum tree and the next morning..not only was the line gone, but the tree too. :laughing7:

I don't know if I believe that story or not, but I know channel cats can get big enough to swallow a grown man whole if it wanted to.

I'm kinda stoned and your comment made me think about it lol.

But I would rather refrain than to loose another great thread.
 

I like quoting with the pic... kinda sorta feels like non alcoholic beer when I post HALF of original... or not at all because I don't wanna repost the picture.

Uncle took me catfishin one time.
He hooked a monster that fought like a bull and stayed deep.
It moved out a ways deeper into the hole in the river and the line stopped moving.
Uncle leaned back hard on the rod and nothing budged.
He the handed me the rod , tossed his hat and wallet on the boat floor and said "I'm going to find out what that thing is snagged on" , and dove in.

He came up for air after what seemed quite a while and said ,"you ain't gonna believe this! That cat swam into the back seat of an old car down in that hole!"

I asked him why he didn't just reach in there and noodle it out by the lower jaw.

He said , "I tried , but when I started reaching in for it , it rolled up the danged window on me!"
