I have looked back over my previous messages/and I can understand how the sentence/ unless someone comes up with a way I can make money it stays where it is this is not asking for money/it is asking for someone to show me how to make money I could have made it clearer by saying unless someone comes up with a way we can make money

Who does the "treasure" belong to by French law? By international law? By maritime law?
By sovereign boundary law?

My opinion is that it belongs to those it was stolen from. That would be who I would sponsor with your funds to make a recovery.

Why would I want to violate French law to steal something stolen from another country?
And why hasn't that country proceeded to make a recovery?
If anyone wanted a treasure recovered , why wouldn't it be the country (more particularly Djerba ) aggrieved?

Use your offered reward ( help to be "adequately reimbursed" per your statement) to sponsor a recovery by island residents related to those robbed prior.
Why would France object to that when per your implication , France doesn't want to recover it?

I will try again to make it clear the French government spent several million Francs looking for it /the American government spent several million dollars looking for it/ a lots of people have spent a lot of time and a lot of money looking for it/ the so-called Romals gold is only a small part of it the gold and gems comes from all over the occupied territory's the ownership of which will be very hard to prove and will take many many years/if you had read all my messages on this thread you would realize I have no intention of breaking any laws/if I was incline to break any laws I would just simply pop down tomorrow morning and take the lot/I am looking for someone who can negotiate with the authorities our mine and their behalf

There has been hundreds of attempts since ww2. Its a local treasure legend in Corsica. How many of locals have dived over the years?

The person who started off this treasure legend was Peter Fleigh aka Walter Kirner. He convinced Italian, French, American and English and even German parties to search for this treasure. His story to each one varied wildly. He was never a diver base in Italy. he was never part of alleged party that hauled this treasure overboard. Even Water had heard some thing in prison he was working on hearsay. So even him is not primary evidence.

There are two secondary hearsay claims that Germans had dumped something. they are not primary account either secondary accounts. ( This is how treasure legends work)

The Nazi gold legend and the Southern States Treasury legends are similar to me. There was a lot of loot that either was dispersed or totally disappeared. Maybe there are some caches out there or maybe it just changed hands and disappeared. I tend to lean towards the latter.

In essence all of the above. The Fog of war created many different situations for looting and wholesale theft fear.murder and death. To add to that mix opportunists exploit such treasure stories for their egotistic gratification or notoriety that adds to confusion. I have seen it all over years. The narrative of such stories get changed out of all proportions to suit people's cognitive bias or agendas.

Fascinating thread and discussion. One of the major problems is especially after 80 years of said events is that the mainstream narratives about WW2 are as believable as the Easter Bunny.

We all know the victors write the history books, make the documentaries and the Hollywood films and so forth. Billions of $ have gone into manufacturing a narrative that the vast majority of the sheeple believe about both of the world wars.

In any case, so much deception, manufactured stories, intentionally engineered documents and so on no different than the KGC gold treasure stories in the continental United States make the Rommel gold just as elusive and an irresistible adventure in eyes of a treasure hunter.
