I found this button in my yard. It is in great shape, still has the little loop thing on the back (i forgot what its called). I can tell that it is at least two pieces and has R & W Robinson engraved on the back. Does anybody know an approximate age. Some of the ones of seen were from the 1830s but they were military. This doesn't appear to be military, it seems like a ladies button. Also there wasnt much activity in these parts until late 1800s. Thanks

1834-1848 is what Tice's book (Uniform Buttons of the US) states, which I trust better than the 1836-1848 that I find online. But, little difference in this case, so I feel sure that's the era you're looking at.

Hey, thanks for the quick response! That would be awesome if it was from then! It would be oldest find. Is that book military buttons? Or is that date range for years of business?

The book is primarily military buttons, but it details company histories that show this to be the only time frame in which this backmark was used, military or civilian. In this case it is also the only years in business under this name.
