ok i have been searching for a bit and I'm a tad confused. Is there any series of nickels (and by series I mean year ranges) other than War nickels? I have a bunch of pre-1965 nickels, and three in particular that I would think are worth SOMEthing in silver, but i can't find info on them, even on http://www.coinflation.com - awesome site, btw.

They are 1940, 1946, and 1947. Are these, or the other pre-65's worth anything in silver? I really appreciate all the help!

They only made silver nickels from 1942-1945. And even some 1942 nickels don't have silver. The nickels that you listed unfortunately don't have any silver in them. I keep all pre-1960 nickels, because even the non-silver ones go for a slight premium.

Nah, not really UNfortunate - it just eliminates a category to search for, so I will use my CRH time more efficiently! Make lemonade, right? I guess I will dump the pre-65, post-1940, NON war nickels then.

Thanks for the advice!

No silver value in those years. NO real value other than $0.05. I keep some, as it variues me from my other searches, and I find a lot when I do search them, but as for value? I don't delude myself into thinking the nickels have any value.

SIlver halves, dimes and quarters, and copper pennies, especially wheaties. They have vlaue over face. NIckels do not, unless you get the silver war nickels or a numismatic (rarer date in decent shape) one.

"I'd" keep those that you have, but only because I do. Not because they are worth more than a nickel. :-)
