Re: Quick cellar hunt give a CONNECTICUT MILITIA OFFICER'S COAT BUTTON...

That is a sweet Connecticut State Seal button! Everytime I'm in Virginia hunting Civil War relics I'm hoping to find one of those.

Re: Quick cellar hunt give a CONNECTICUT MILITIA OFFICER'S COAT BUTTON...

That's a killer button! I think I can see some gilt showing through. Might be worth a shot to apply some aluminum jelly. But that's your call.

Nice button JB. I took my T2SE out for a spin yesterday - still struggling with it, but its coming slowly. I did find a 1941 wheat and a double-bitted ax head that's headed for the soup to restore. It should turn out nice.

Re: Quick cellar hunt gives up a CONNECTICUT MILITIA OFFICER'S COAT BUTTON...

nice one JB! I dug one like that and used CLR and a toothbrush cleaned up real nice but I would go with the jelly on it.like someone else said there looks to be gilt on it
here's my CLR method how it worked below
