Got done work early today so decided to head out in the feild for an hour or so since the weather was so nice. This is the same feild i dug the french 2 sols coin in a few days ago. Managed to snag a few keepers. The thimble I consider my find of the day. Only the third silver one I have ever dug. And probably the best one I have ever dug aswell. Scored a 1900 Barber quarter, and a merc dime, plus a 1820 large cent which is in pretty good shape. Got it soaking will post a pic later. I think it will clean up nice. My last find of the day was an 1887 Indian. Not a bad hour or so in the feild.

How old is that thimble? How can you date them?

Good question. I am thinking its late 1800's early 19's. Some have a hallmark that you can use for a date. This one however doesnt have any.

Thats an awesome thimble! I've came across the silver ones but never an ornate one like yours!

You had some very nice finds for an ALL DAY hunt Jesse. That's a fancy thimble. I haven't found many of those myself and the ones I have dug are the common ones. WTG, Quindy.

Thanks guys. :icon_thumleft:

Killer Hour :o
Looking forward to seeing the copper! Got an 1820 LC that held up, seems the alloy was good 1817-20 :dontknow:
Great silver finds! Awesome Thimble :hello2: sometimes there's a lightly engraved makers monogram inside top, though yours looks earlier than this one.
HH to you :hello:

Defenitly no makers mark. And what's really weird is that there is no silver stamp. My other silver ones are stamped sterling. :dontknow:
