Had a crazy couple of days detecting a small field in PA this week. While normally I would be thrilled at finding my first KGIII copper, I was more taken aback by the amount of cuff links I found - seven this trip for a total of 8 I’ve found in this field! Two were plain, and the rest had different designs.

A hot air balloon, a “Tally Ho!” Fox hunting themed link, a floral design, an unknown, and a George Washington Mourning era urn! Now yes, I know the urn can’t be directly attributed to the death of Washington, but I’ve heard the legend and it makes me happy, so I’m sticking with it, lol!

The finds are from the right time period, as a lot of late 1700s and very early 1800s Largies and half cents were found in this field over the last year.

What was here? Well, I don’t rightly know. No iron, no trash, nothing but coins and cuff links and buttons have come out of here. No idea what happened here. I’m not complaining though!

You're definitely on to something good there. Congrats! Any idea where the house was? Check historic maps.

The first house, built by my 8th great grandfather, was built in 1757 over 300 yards away. The second, was built in 1793 by one of his sons, again over 300 yards away. A third and fourth house were built in 1803 and 1813 respectively by two other family members over 1/4 mile away. I have no idea what was here. No iron or household crap signals at all, just goodies.

Congrats Rusty!

A hot summer event and sleeves were rolled up perhaps?

Or a forgetful wearer putting them in a vest pocket only to loose them bending forward later ?
Or coat sleeves catching on them repeatedly?

IF they are in a tight/small row of an area it could have been a cloths line site..

(Great provenance you're still on.)

Nice work Rusty, beautiful finds !! Congrats 👏

Wow!! Nice going Rusty. That's one fine batch of goodies you recovered. Wtg!!

That's a phenomenal day of digging!

Perhaps all of your relatives wives were all complaining about something and the men had a secret meeting spot to escape to 😂

I drive by thousands of acres of fields every day, but I just can’t seem to get on them,
Usually cuz I don’t know who owns it, or it’s fresh planted, or I’m too tired and old and lazy…always an excuse.
I suck.
Great finds btw.

Very interesting finds. Thanks for sharing. Congratulations!
