I used to own a gold master III back in the 1990's. I been looking at new detectors these past couple weeks. They are very expensive, I would say probably on par with my old gm3, actually probably cheaper if the math is done correctly. I cant help but want the old rotary knob ground balance. I dont mind a few buttons and I dont need a screen, but they all come with these it seems like. My old gold master 3 had the ground balance knob and it never stopped rotating or got a rest while I was detecting. Has technology come this far with the detectors that they do not need ground balancing on the fly/while detecting?

I really like the Garrett Ace detectors as they are stupid simple, but they dont have a ground balance knob to use on the fly.

Im looking to buy an old whites from ebay, but not sure which detector to buy. My research is pointing me to the Whaites MXT All Pro. I plan to use it for coins and relics. It does have the ground balance knob. Is there a newer whites detector for coin and relic hunting that has a rotary ground balance knob?

By the way, some of you, may notice i had an earlier post on which new detector. The Nokta score 2 seams to have me sold, but I just want to research the whites detector before I pull the trigger on the Score 2. Im just not so sure on the ground balance topic or the lack of the feature on so many attractive 2024 detectors.

Since Whites is out of business you may experience difficulties with parts or repairs.

Just get the Nokta. No sense stepping back in time.
