Question

I think the dfx or v3i but you will here something different from everyone. Before you get a white you need to do some research because they can be very time consuming to learn . It took me over a year to figure out all my dfx settings and what they do and being able to use them right.

It all depends on what you're trying to do with it.
Nugget hunting for small shallow nuggets? - GMT
Nugget Hunting larger, deeper nuggets - TDI
Iron & nail infested sites - IDX Pro, IDX, Classic III
Wet saltwater beach sand - SUrfmaster PI Dual Field
Fresh Water - Beach Hunter ID
General All purpose coin, relic, & jewelry detector - V3i
Combination Relic, nugget shooting, and coin detector - MXT Pro, MXT
Easy Turn on and go coin & jewelry detector - M6
and on and on

Well posted tom...
The truth is exactly as that. It all depends on what you want to find. There is not a "do it all" detector, yet.
I have the V3i and I love it, I had the MXT and liked it a lot as well...
In my opinion the V3i is the most versatile machine that whites makes, it's multi frequency detector but it can be set up as a single frequency detector as well giving it a boost in the performance depending on what you are looking for.
It is also the best detector to determine what is down there and deciding if you want to dig it or not.

Way too general, what might be the best for one person may not be the best for another, mxt is the best for me because I'm not a techy type.

The "best" is up to the user. But the most comprehensive is the V3i, probably...
