I have a friend that lives in Montana and the ground is mineralized, he is thinking about a f75. Have any of you used the f75 in tha t kind of ground and how did it work

We all have mineral soil. It's either organic or mineral matter or a combination mixed together. I suggest you download the manual and read the chapter on ground balancing. The F-75 has a very quict "FASTGRAB" feature to ground balance in seconds, or a slower but more precise manual process. It will alert you that you're in a problem area - at least it is having a problem. You can rebalance or just set a neutral default/reset in the worst-of-the-worst cases.

From wet salt to magnetite it will run the whole range of minerals. It's a shame no one has responded from Montana. Is there a Fisher dealer you could call in the state?
The F-75 even gives you a ferrite bar graph so you can see hot spots (or large rusted objects).
