question from newbie

Ok somtimes i hit a target and i get a very eratic signal it jumps from $.01 to $.10 to $.50and so on very fast is this normal also the depth jumps around is this overload or normal trash signal? im new so any advice will be apreciated thanks.

My guess would be trash . Sometimes when a coin is really shallow my detector goes crazy beeping but it usually locks on & the info doesn't jump all over the place . I'm sure someone else will jump in here .

If the detector is steady when held high off the ground you may just have a piece of junk and the detector can't pin it down due to shape or more than one target very close together.
