LADIES & Gentlemen: during WW-2 I was present at several islands which had very heavy fighting . On several, ships were sunk with 1000 meters of the island. Now international law states that the ships have a sort of sanctuary status, and cannot be dived upon, nor can any artifacts be removed, yet just a few thousand meters away on land, the fallen military land forces are not given this status?

The question is why the discrimination on a strictly moral basis? What gives swabbies the distinction and right of special treatment?

Just curious.
