QUESTION ABOUT YOUTUBE

So then i knew there had to be something of value for ones to get others to subscribe .. They do not want you to subscribe just to see how many likes them & there videos..

I would say it depends on the person. Obviously there are some that are on Youtube JUST for money....and many of them make millions from it so it is hard to blame them for being successful.

For me personally I look at my small subscribers list (a whopping 76 right now) as people who like my videos and just want to be notified when I place out future content. I know that is why I personally subscribe to channels...because I like the content they provide and I like getting a notification when a new video comes out. Yes I absolutely monetize my videos with the hope I may someday be a big Youtube star....but I am realistic and know that is a pipe dream that has .0001% of ever happening. Just like playing the lottery...my chances are small but I still buy a ticket from time to time. It hurts nobody.

Having a high sub count does pay off in the fact mre people watch your videos as a whole....which is where the $$$ comes into play....videos hits. So yes many do like to have subs for just that reason alone.

In my eyes....it is a small ad that runs that can be skipped in 5 seconds.....if somebody watching my channel (or any channel) cannot handle that them I am ok with them not subbing. I DO NOT place videos with the idea of becoming some YT star....I do it so others interested in what I am interested in can watch and hopefully enjoy it. However I DO monetize for the simple fact there is that .00001% chance my channel takes off some year down the road and I would be foolish to throw away free money for doing something I already love doing.

I know alot of people do not like the MD based TV shows and the bigger YT channels....but I am going to go out on a limb and say 95% of those people would take the the paycheck if presented to them for doing something they already love doing. Just my opinion of course...

we would all be ahead if you just send me money NOT to post videos

I just wondered why they wanted ones to subscribe .... But of course if i could make a buck at it i would .. I am like most i LIKE MONEY ..

There are several sources on youtube that explain this very thing in detail. Basically, the number of subscribers and views give the poster a higher rating so their posted vids will eventually show up sooner in the search engine, and hopefully on the first page or two of those search engine results. Naturally, advertisers want to focus on these vids that are getting most of the views and showing up sooner in those search engine results. But money can only be made from this arrangement if the poster chooses to place his content in these money making opportunities. Not all users do that, even many of them that do produce higher ratings.

One other thing, from what I researched, making a decent buck from this type of thing isn't too common and it takes a huge amount of social networking and traffic to generate a fair income from such an enterprise. This was something I researched after my heart attack as I was looking for ways to possibly generate some passive income.

Which is why the nugget guy is always first in the listings when you do a search for "metal detecting". He seems to be a nice kid, but it gets to be annoying after awhile...

Keywords, content descriptions, etc., someone who is really up SEO, or "search engine optimization", is already miles ahead of the pack. :laughing7: Unfortunately, not everyone stays within accurate content description.

Treasurenet is a great example of how SEO has the potential to grow ratings and then inspires the potential for advertising revenues. Those of us who were here before Mark sold this site to its current owners saw very little advertising and there wasn't near the membership there is now. The more members that post the more content there is on the site which also increases the amount of views, etc. So in this case it's actually all of "our posting and viewing" that made all of this advertising and the potential increase of revenues possible.

The only channels I subscribe to, are the ones which offer information that I want to stay up on. For instance, I'll be building choppers and bobbers for my winter projects this season, and I'm studying everything about that. Some video makers are full of... beans... :tongue3: while some are quite good.

You guys think Beau Ouimette and Nuggetnoggin make any cash from youtube?

I follow the same theory...if I like the videos the user uploads and feel they will continue to upload content I like...I subscribe.

Beau Ouimette and Nuggetnoggin make "roughly" the same amount...which is "roughly" 2500-3000 a month.

A super-popular channel like Pewdiepie who has 37.7 million subscribers and over 9 billion (yes billion) video hits has made roughly 7+ million dollars.

Had to look Pewdiepie up to see what/who it was, I do like the reason why he doesn't live in LA that I'll give him a

Everything is based on viewers now. How do you think T Net makes money. The compensation of the advertisers is based on the # of hits the Forum gets.
Now look at magazines. There advertisers pay according to circulation. That's why I wait for the final offer( business offer) to renew my subs. I pay just $12 or less a year for a monthly mag. That even includes the Smithsonian with membership. I bought a life membership in GPAA many years ago and now receive there mag for life along with access to thousands of claims. You just have to figure out the system, that's all. Frank

Think getting likes on a YouTube video is just like having a Facebook page with a lot of likes. It doesn't really help anything but show other people the value of what other viewers think about it. It may give you a little boost in the rankings but user interaction is probably the most important. I also have a YouTube channel and the only thing that can really make you money with it are the ads that play before the video :)
