im planning on sending in some items to midwest ref.
now here in lies my dilemma
do i mix my low KT gold with my higher KT gold
if i send in 2 sep. lots my cut will be smaller ?
or if i send it all in a lot will it come out in the laundry ,so to speak?(about the same if i send in two lots)
say for argument 1/2 oz of 14 kt
and say 1/4 oz of 10KT
any input on the subject ;)

DeKalb,

it will all come out in the wash.

Send it all in. They know what your
sending and will pay you for what is
worth per their policy.

My dealing with them say they are a
good operation; no, a very good operation.

have a good un............

send it all in, they assay it and pay you for what the 'gold' value is worth of it, at the percentage mentioned on their website, regardless of what the original karat of it was.

When I used them at first, just for my sake, i put all my 14k in one container, 10k in another yadda and weigh them just to compare my weights with what they come out with. They were really close.

For silver, i refine it myself and send them a bullion bar, get a bit more percentage that way.

Send it all in. I have dealt with them before and they were very fair. I even sent some jewelry in that I wasn't sure had silver or gold in them and they tested it for me. Sent me back pictures to show some of it was junk.

big thankx to all the help guys!

I would say send it all in, but maybe separate it, 10K in one container, 14K in another, etc. I have not sent any in as of yet, but when I do that is the way I will do it.

They will test each piece accordingly and pay you the same way. Sometimes when something is marked 14k doesn't mean it is a true 14k. Suffice it to say that it could be slightly less, say 13k, depending on who made the piece. There are shady characters in all walks of life. I have never dealt with them but everything I read is positive so good luck and let us know how it turns out.

I've heard nothing but positive feedback about them, and like any good refiner, they should give you a very detailed written analysis of your metal---AGW, impurities, etc.
