Quartzite river/creek cobbles in my area were frequently used as hammerstones. Looks like yours might have some use wear.

Very cool! Awesome to find the tool responsible for creating the flint artifacts we all cherish! I always contemplate about the guy/gal that may held it hundreds or thousands of years ago and the circumstances that resulted in them leaving it behind...
