Hello beautiful and knowledgeable people I recently found the following Quartz vein still in its granite host rock with a lot of visible wire Au, other forms of Gold and it also has a lot of visible Platinum and Palladium. Many local experts have told me it is definitely, "gallery worthy" and may be able to bring some serious dough at auction or to a private collector.
It is an extremely large Quartz in its host rock and has an astonishing amount of rare earth metals quite visible. The specimen weighs over 2 kilograms and tests done at home are congruent and all test positive for Gold (Au), Palladium (Pd), Platinum (PT), as well as Silver (Ag).
Those are the only materials and test equipment available, so it may also contain other rare earth metals (Rhodium, Iridium, etc)
I have monitered and participated in high end auctions for almost 5 years now. My niche usually includes rare, valuable, & graded coins and stamps. Antique and extremely rare literature such as books and maps.
I wanted to touch base with the experts on here first, knowing how enormously successful and full of knowledge everyone is here on this forum.
Where would I even find a collector that may be interested in a specimen like this. I know it is a bad idea to break a peace off and send it to someone to do a Platinum group metal assay as the piece itself weighs approximately 2.01 kilograms. I have only cleaned it with vinegar and a toothbrush.
This did actually make the specimen shrink a bit in size (the vinegar deteriorating the host rock of granite) yet the weight didn't go down at all and it still weighs 2.01kg.
Any Buyer as well as myself would be extremely disappointed if I had the specimen broken and sent off for an assay as the pictures I will attach to this email will show you. I doubt the test would return very accurate results due to the valuable metals which bring its weight up to over 2 kilograms.
Thank you for your time, I greatly appreciate it. Should I bring the piece into a gallery? What is a smart idea for a first step if anyone here has any suggestions. I do live in the mineral belt of Colorado and the piece was found on my friends mother's land and she has given me free reign to do whatever I think is best. Gallery on Tuesday or should I just submit the piece as normal on your website?
Thanks for anyone that has read this far and I will know attach some photos of the quartz specimen,
Cheers!
Sincerely,
Jack Straw
