Hello,
Need a little experienced help in identifying the yellow material running through the quartz vein in this rock. Thank you, Yvette 7858CFF8-965C-41A9-833A-AC3D4BD66024.jpeg7858CFF8-965C-41A9-833A-AC3D4BD66024.jpeg7858CFF8-965C-41A9-833A-AC3D4BD66024.jpeg

Pyrite is hard and brittle and if struck it will fracture or flake. It will also streak black when tested.

Thank you, When I scratched it with a switchblade knife it did leave a scratch in it but I scratched it with a metal pic to see if it was mica and nothing at all came off. I don’t currently have a streak plate to be able to test its streak.

If Florida, the rock was brought in. A ceramic tile, the rough back side, can be used to get a streak test. Any of the big box hardware stores sell them individually. Also, a broken piece of ceramics will do much the same.
