Putnam/Westchester NY

Thanks GUNSIL as I mentioned to you before I have been down here 20 years , but do remember the Beacon MT story I thought it folded in the 1900 "S I worked mostly the NY / CT State line area near Wingdale ------ It wasn't tuff then place was really rural except for the mental institution area-------- Down here is hard but not difficult Lots of CW sites you can still get into in North GA , still family farms , Best part is if you can make one connection the people will usually recommend you to others---------------- This coming year if the 150 anniversty of the Ten to Atlanta push by Sherman in 1864 , So the interest is spiking again , Lots of interest since in the rural areas people had relatives who fought so they are always interested in finding stuff on the farm ---- Wasn't there a town just down highway 9 named " cold something that was a major iron ore manufacture during the REV war think there was a foundry there anyway enjoy

Thank you so much G.A.P.metal !

This story is very interesting I have been researching this for years looking at old news archives.
what i have learned is that shortly after he died a small bag with about a dozen gold coins were found in a
cave but the large majority of the coins was never recovered.last spring until fall I searched the area nothing
yet. I plan to keep doing this every year, looks like that ground hog messed up my plans for a early start lol.
on a side note I did find a coin not gold and not silver but a large cent dated 1878 I think that's the date it was hard to make out.

Very interesting
