Purchased two American Eagles 1oz Gold Bullion Coins for $120 yesterday

My hats off to you for a deed well done! You won't regret taking the coins back.

Hmmm..
My first thought would have been to ask if he had any more coins.
But, like you, by the time I would have gotten to my truck, I would have had that nagging in my brain moving from the back to the front and coming out screaming and would have returned all of it...I'm pretty sure I would have...(9 out of 10 voices in my head say I would have...)
You are a credit to our community, sir! :icon_salut:

Best Wishes,
Scott

The fellow that sold you the old watches and coins was probably a fence selling stolen goods. He knew that the coins had a fifty dollar face value, were gold, and were worth more than fifty. Probably couldn't find a pawn shop that would take them without his having to show ID.
If the old watches were valuable, I'd get rid of them too.

I will throw in my 2 cents on this. It is admirable what you did. I guess along the lines of what Rich said, did you get the feeling these might have been stolen or was this just some uneducated boob who was yard selling grandma's coins? While I might have a hard time walking away with a bargain like this, if the seller was shady I might have kept them. Anywho, what ever makes your conscience feel better is your decision and you should be commended for doing what you feel is right.

I think we atleast should nominate Darth for honerable mention for this? Anyone agree?

We all have to look in the mirror. You did the right thing. You will sleep well knowing that. My hat is off to you!

you will be glad for the rest of your life that you did not sell your integrity for $2000 in gold.

i think there is a good chance these were stolen.

You are hereby awarded 2,316 eKarma points (one for each FRN you could have netted from the sale at current prices).

Answer "B" is also accepted in some circles: Cash the coins in and split the procedes - while they had the gold, you had the knowledge.

Good job.

It was the right thing to do, I withdrew some FRN's out of an ATM, and it gave me back $40 too much (2 twenties) I returned them, it made me feel better than if I had kept them, funny thing about it, I returned them to the same individual that was responsible for closing my account at that same bank a month or two later... :dontknow:

Good job! I don't believe in karma, but I do believe God will bless you for your integrity!

I'm sure that wasn't easy but it was the right thing to do. That money would soon be gone but the knowledge of knowing you did the right thing will last a lifetime. .
