public park hunting

After being a fanatic for hunting for over 20 years, I've never had a problem in a public park.
I usually hunt first and if someone has a problem they will tell you.
the only time I know of that there was no Metal Detecting was in Charleston S.C.
there is a park there that is actually post "No Metal Detecting"
We did anyway and were asked to leave, but no arrest warrants, no tickets, no big deal.
Actually that was one park in Charleston. but if anyone else has tried hunting in
Battery Park in Charleston and can't find anything old.....
Ha Ha Ha ....? its because I cleaned it out.....
last time there, 2 wheats and 1 indian H. and a token in an hour...
not much left... but 20 years ago.. what a different story...
Just ask me what I got there....? : )

Well, how did you do?? HH Art...

I haven't had much of a problem hunting public parks. Around here nobody seems to really care. I always try to leave the area better than I found it. Although I have made a few crop circles (who hasn't). I did have one parks guy in a nearby town ask me if I had a permit he was very nice about it and we struck up a conversation about detecting for gold. I told him I did not have a permit. It took me a month to figure out how to get one. I always look for signs / rules when I go to a new park. If there arn't any rules posted against metal detecting -- I consider it free game. I have been to a few parks / lakes that didn't allow metal detecting -- although irritating (it isn't like I am shooting off hanguns / fireworks ) I do obey the rules as they are posted. They build skate parks / playground equipment / bbq pits / b ball and v ball courts / baseball diamonds / atv recreation areas / fishing ponds / tennis courts all on tax payer funds -- I figure it is public property that I help pay for.
