there is a deep well down the hill from it. there is a pipe that looks like a over flow...
what do you think...

update..i'm still alive..didn't get much of the bricks and metal out of the hole.will be going back when things dry up a bit..

Make sure you check the ground too so it is not any sinkhole or quicksand type of soil. Remember your putting up to 150+ pounds of weight (unless your one really skinny dude) I been in worse holes then this one before but never needed any scuba gear but always make sure you bring a stick with you too check the soil before you step onto it!

I was going to say this.
Get a long steel rod, rebar maybe? Then poke it down into the soil and put all your weight on it. A treasure hunt could turn into a recovery if you are not careful. I couldn't imagine stepping down into that hole, find out it is quick sand type material and hanging on to a rope while your buddy calls the Fire Department. Then after a few hours we could watch you on the news, but hope that would not be the case.

Regardless of how you get down there, please be careful.
