I was still fuming about what I was told by the local NFS....everything prohibited including metal detecting. Grrr, I HATE ultimatums

I don't know about you, but I will print this out, throw it in a gallon ziplock and stow it with my gear. In this way, if stopped by a LEO, i will present my "signed permission from the FEDERAL government" and establish I did my homework and in return obtained permission. This MIGHT be enough to make the #@%#$&'s just leave me alone.

Truthfully, I never see LEO's, but I like to be prepared. Usually a LEO follows up on a complaint, just like any cop. I can see how people would complain seeing me do it because they were told it was all off limits.

I know better now and it feels good!

Welcome to the environazi forest service/ BLM/ Bureau of Rec. I keep a legal folder in both my mining trucks and have utilized them MANY 100s a times to educate them idjets. Carry or perish under a avalanche of brazen stupidity, ignorance and NOT current laws. All the little forest kings do have WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much lattitude in their own perceptions of law. Homogeneous application of the rule a law is gone. I've mined in dozens a forests and all them chiefs instruct their indians to scalp ya for different things,even when you were legal 20' away in another forest following up a paystreak into THEIR forest..... sic sic sic-John

I don't think that I would really want to tell the Head Ranger at the main Forestry Division Office that! If there was a more diplomatic way that someone can recommend, I may try it. They don't even want us there, especially those at the small Ranger Station tasked with issuing permits and patrolling (if they ever do that). They only tolerate us because prospecting has been going on in this area since Gold was first found nearby in 1831, because the local businesses benefit from the purchases we make in the area and because the USDA says that they have to accomodate us. If we pi%$ them off, they will send reports back up the chain to the USDA and the USDA may come down hard on us. They have already limited prospecting in some areas due to the over the top activities of some members of prospecting clubs, the GPAA included.

I propose that all clubs, (GPAA) included give their members the reason for NEVER USING THE TERM RECREATION, RECREATIONAL, PASTIME, HOBBY, OR ANY OTHER SUCH LIKE WORDS IN CONNECTION WITH PROSPECTING AND MINING. All new members should receive an orientation piece in this regards too. Don't let this happen again!

Only fools think we have rights!!! We have privalages!! That's it.. And Talk and petions and public meeting are just a big show!!! They want you to think you have rights! As much as I hate Violence I fear that there is only one action for the American "SERFS" And that to stop the talking and let the bleeding begin... This is a very small issue compared to the WHOLE PICTURE.. To hell with dredging and GOLD I have way more concerns about the children in my family living in slavery and beining dependent on the Government for everything. The government should depend on US and FEAR US.... WHY AM I SO AFRAID OF MY GOVERMENT!!! OH yea !!!DRONE STRIKES AGAINST US CITZENS... That attitude of fear is exactly why we are loosing to the wackos. We need at every turn let them know that we know the law and our rights and we aren't going to take it any more. They believe they are above the law as does the idiot in the White House. We need to let them know they aren't. I have backbone but as a former (now retired) Federal Government Employee, I know how things work in these agencies! If we pi%$ off the folks in the NF District offices, they will make calls, write emails and write letters to the powers to be in the controlling agency which is the USDA. In these calls, emails and letters, they will inform the higher ups of what we have done and make up a crap load of lies, saying that we did this or we did that and that the prospectors have become an unrully crowd. The higher ups will consider the information that they have received from the District offices and never ask or take into account our side of the story and probably decide to shut down Gold prospecting permanently. Do you want that? I don't and won't risk it getting to that point! There are more diplomatic ways to accomplish the changes that we want and need and usually it starts with a Senator or Congressman/woman that is sympathetic or somewhat sympathetic to our plight. We have to organize and work on getting support from our politicians, point out errors and contradictions in the rules and reports and work to make the environazis' look like the bad guys and us as the good guys. We put tax dollars and much needed funds into local economies when we prospect for Gold and especially so, when we make a significant find which allows us to make much larger purchases than we normally would. The environazis' do not put anything into the economy by what they do and every money generating business or pass-time that they shut down, means less dollars in taxes and less dollars for the local economies. They (the environazis') are using a game of attrition as each time the government is faced with less tax dollars from their actions, the more budget cuts they have to make. These budget cuts usually mean cuts in the workforce as well as offices to supervise districts and run specific programs and the offices and employees that are left, have to streamline or cut out certain programs or activities by the public. We need to get the politicians to see what the environazis's are doing, in hopes that they will do something about it!

I do aggree with you on the kids, I have two of my own. I DO NOT HIDE THE TRUTH FROM MY KIDS ABOUT WHAT IS GOING ON IN THIS COUNTRY AND I KEEP UP ON WHAT THERE SCHOOLS ARE TEACHING THEM, I ALSO MAKE SURE THEY ASK LOTS OF QUESTIONS AND GET TO THE TRUTH.

Tho I agree with you, I don't believe you will see any type of uprising in this country in the foreseeable future. For two very simple reasons- 1. We are all relatively comfortable "it's not that bad", "it could be worse". 2. We are all counting on our government to take care of us when we get older and aren't about to risk losing that! Not until we have nothing to lose will we stand and fight. That's the difference between us and our forefathers. The government knows this and has engineered it to control us. Just good old fashioned common sense no conspiracy theory here.

That is where voting counts! Back and vote for the politicians that will stand up for prospecting rights and other rights and not buckle to the enviros. Surely in two States that are overrun with Left-Winged politicians and others that are just wusses and green-weenies, you should be able to find a few honest politicians that are right in their' minds.

I understand where you are coming from but you are somewhat wrong in your thinking! Many government agencies were mandated by Congress long ago to oversee, manage and supervise specific programs and just like those, the USDA and the U.S. Forest Service were mandated to oversee, manage and supervise lands and programs within the National Forests and other lands. In doing so, Congress gave these agencies fairly unlimited power (within reason) to do as needed to protect the National Forest lands and other lands for future generations and that includes inacting rules and regulations that we may or may not like. Now let a government agency or anyone try to invade my' home to take my' weapons (or guns to those that may not have served in the Military) or anything else I own, then they will be met with armed resistance. When you mine whether it be large or small scale whether it's gold or silver it doesn't matter it could be rocks for all that matters. What do you do with the gold or rocks you find, sell it? If so you are earning money and if your not selling it then you are holding onto it to invest or sell at a later date no matter what you call it you are accumulating wealth. Some people just accumulate more than others and I am not one of those, but I will die trying...
