Price of tin is slowly creeping up

China's plans to have the worlds strongest navy by 2015 needing 6 aircraft carriers
could be the reason for the tin / steel rise.

Had to take another load of tin in yesterday.. was shocked that it's now $80/NT up from $40/NT..

didn't hear about prices for non-ferrous.
good news

wow, pigiron, I hadn't heard of that. what the heck, they got just about everything else and no wars to fight, I guess they'll make out just fine. What ever happened to the good old United States of America? What would happen if we needed the factories to light up and start producing military hardware hand over fist? Do we still have the means and knowlege to do it?

China currently has one mid-sized(under 50,000t) non-nuclear powered carrier under construction, due to be completed in 2010.
They are designing a large carrier, but no construction dates have been set.
They also have a former Soviet carrier Varyag that was never completed. The one being built now is based on this ship.
No WAY could they build 6 by 2016. Those things take a long time to build when you know how to do it, even longer when you don't.
