today 2 friends(Brad DFX, and Nonickels) and I hunted an old farm, I got 4 silvers, several wheats, a 1908 V-nickel (my 8th this year, and 2nd one this week!). Got this cool Culver Badge, I researched it and it is from Culver Military Academy that was founded in 1894, not sure how old it is. My friend walked right over it, he assumed it was a aluminum can, I saw him lift his coil about 6-8" off the ground over it and walked away. :laughing7: I went over checked it out and it was a solid 44 on my x-70, so I dug down about 4" and out it popped, I think it is a real cool find.

I dug a total of 71 targets there, 29 was clad, 15 old coins, the badge, cheapo ring, so only about 25 trash items. That is a great ratio in my opinion. that puts me at 60 silver coins for the year.

Great hunt buddy - BIGTIME Congrats!!!!!!! :icon_pirat:

:icon_thumright: sweet finds

And you got to point out to your friend that you need to dig every decent signal. Isn't it fun to annoy your detecting partner occasionally?
Carl, who once walked over a gold ring lying on the surface of the ground, and was picked up by his buddy.

If thats pretty good, I'm waiting to see a "great day" fro, you, nice finds.

Congrats nice haul there.

Nice Culver Badge. I drove right by there today. Great golf course nearby and cool lake. Big money school. Congrats on the finds. jgas

any guess on the age of the culver badge?

That Hat badge dates from around WW2, the info I got off of WorthPoint auction place was the one that matches yours dates to around 1928. But my guess is that they made them for several years. But it would be safe to say that it dates in that range. Just for your info, George Stenbrenner of the yankees graduated from there as well as Gene Siskel of the Ebert and Siskel movie critic days. I believe it costs in the realm of 50 grand a year to send a kid there. Pretty pricey....That is a cool find my friend. A keeper for sure.
