Hi all,for a couple of years i have been mding this old school known as The Calfornia Gully Mechanic's Instatute.The building was built in 1890, was used as a school to teach young miners.In the evening the school was a local meeting place for various community groups and clubs.In the last few months the whole site has been cleared,except for the building.all the hundred old trees cut down and the block scrapped.

I went there this morning and found a barber's dime and the medal i found about 18 months ago.heres a link of the whole history of events that has led to these american coins beening found 10,000 miles from home and lost a 100 years ago.half-way down the page you will find a text relating to 300 sailors coming to my town Bendigo.

Very nice medal tinny...I would kill for that.

Neat building, too. I loved the federation style. If I had the money I would get my house here in the US built in that style.
