PRE WORLD WAR TWO LIONEL #253

[SHERMANVILLE ILLINOIS]

Found in a farmers field. Sure has seen better days.

There is a hole where another piece of tin would have fitted in for the vents on the side,which would have been an overlapping piece that extended up to the grooves near both windows.. It also has "Lionel" top center, and "253" under both windows. This is the side of the engine in the 4 car set.

Thank the good folks at Lionel that it had "Lionel" and "253" on it, made it a snap to I.D.


The 253 was introduced in 1924 and cataloged until 1936.
