Got out a couple days before ETA ! Really wanted to check and document the cut before the storm blasted it !! I went down past Bahia handa and tried the spanish harbor keys.....it was pretty good with most of the sand still pushed high from irma. The sand has been pushed away and exposed the bare rock. So I did alot of pothole hunting. You can see how good those expensive scoops would work:laughing7: its still pretty messed up with the beaches destroyed and clean up in full swing. Here's some stuff from before and after. 20201110_173752.jpg
Silver dime, old clad(no zinc),harmonica and other musical reeds, suspender clip, sail grommets, ships spikes bronze, great seal button, brass drawer pull,38-55 rifle cartridge(kinda rare) also got some great crystallized coral specimans....this come from a top-secret location that everyone is trying to get from Me 20201011_220238.jpg here is some other recent finds 20201011_220124.jpg match safe !!20201011_220152.jpg20201011_220138.jpg here's a wierd aluminum token from 1987...its new orleans, not sure how it made it to the lower keys? 20201011_220058.jpg also got a gold plated copper ring, sterling clasp, bell of Sarina, silver religous medallion and another razor part.20201011_220238.jpg
Also a tremendous amount of pottery is being washed out by the hurricane erosion. I'll take a pic and edit it in....got only one gold earring small .20201107_084608.jpg. Getting ready to hit some spanish spots as soon as this weather settles down and the beaches groom up !! Sea weed is everywhere right now. Got tons of trash and lead too20201106_214529.jpg20201106_214529.jpg here's the pesos coins. Nothing real special but great fun !!20201106_214551.jpg

Blak bart. Great work on filming. What type of camera and how do you like the eq,

Thanks guys.....I wish I had some great Spanish treasure to show...but....2020 has been weird to say the least. Not much good treasure, but plenty of relics. This hurricane was about as perfect as it gets.....were three days out and the weather is settling. It will be a while before the shorelines stabilize but I think there may be some goodies. Beach combing is off the chain and my buddies dad (hes 70) managed to salvage ten 16 foot 2x10s. I got quite alot so far after the storm and will be doing some extreme beach combing.....ill ware the gopro and get a half mile deep into the mangrove swamps !! Its incredible. Yesterday I got a bunch of calusa indian pottery shards !!

First pic, all the way on the left, is a razor handle. From an old safety razor.

Thank you madmox......I forgot to mention that !! Good eye...happy hunting friend !!

Great hunt bart. I like the variety of finds.:icon_thumright:

That is a great variety of finds. Congrats on all the stuff you found. Good luck on future finds after the shores stabilize!

Great assortment of finds....I tend to favour the old spikes you find. Very nice one, even bent she's a beaut.

"this come from a top-secret location that everyone is trying to get from Me" - not surprised with the awesome finds you post. Good for you!

I imagine some of those artifacts were from building the overseas highway by Henry Flagler. Great history. Cannot wait to see the after finds when you have time.

Question: Is Spanish Harbor named due to the 1733 fleet?

Regards

Spanish harbor was being used long before the 1733 fleet.....probably as far back as mid to late 1500s.....definitely was a popular Anchorage by the 1600s......very deep history there !!

Only the crystallized coral comes from my secret spot. Very hard to find the pockets of crystallized coral. The really nice specimans come from only a couple locations.

Blak bart. Great work on filming. What type of camera and how do you like the eq,

Bill i just have my Samsung phone most of the time....ill have to start wearing the gopro. Pretty difficult to detect, dig, and film at the same time. Lol.
