I am trying to find out how big a "powder keg" was during the 1700's. I have been looking online but cannot find anything. I also am wondering about the 1700 fur trading days, they used to get payed in gold and silver bars. I am looking for any info on the size of these bars. Any info would be greatly appreciated in my research. With all the smart people on this forum im sure there is someone here that can help me out. Untill then Ill keep searching online. Thanks!

I did some looking, they actually came in different sizes, but it was hard to find a site devoted to it to link, this is a little later than the time you wanted but the sizes are similar:
http://www.warof1812.ca/cask.htm as far as the gold bars they also came in different sizes depending on who made (smelted) them. usually how the process worked was they poured the gold into ingot molds then after it cooled, weighed them and stamped the weight on the ingot. I hope this helps HH omnicognic 8)
